JSC "Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory" is one of the largest factories in Europe. It is a unique multiline factory of Russian optical industry. It is included into the number of factories which provide the defensive capacity of Russia. For more than 60 years of its existing the factory has achieved the world level of quality of the manufacturing production and nowadays LZOS is considered the leader in producing of optical materials for different fields of science and engineering of Russian Federation.       Many years' experience in manufacturing and collaboration with institute "Vavilov State Optical Institute" allow JSC LZOS to master production of more than 250 types of optical colour and colourless glass. The factory supplies its production to enterprises of Russia, of Commonwealth of Independent States, and to Europe, America and Asia.

      In September 1935 the building of the mirror reflectors factory was started. In 1939 the first batch of 1.5m searchlight mirrors for visual sets of antiaircraft defense was produced.
      In 1942 the manufacturing of 600-1500mm searchlight reflectors and armor-glasses for the planes IL-2, LA-6 and JAK-1, viewing prisms for tanks and other productions were mastered.
      Next years during war the factory produced defense production according to the military needs.

In 1946 the arrange of optical glass manufacturing with facilities of 1200 tons per year producing was started. This further satisfied the industry optical material requirements.       In 1952 the arrangement of optical mechanics manufacturing (devices as viewing prisms for armored vehicles and instruments for civil applications) was started. Further the factory supplied optical devices for armored vehicles factories, and viewing systems for processes observation in "hot" cameras and boxes and for biological protection of operator.       Since 1960 at the factory the producing technology of glass with low thermal expansion with the following treatment and producing of mirrors for telescopes and space optics were developed. Particularly in 1974 factory finished manufacturing of 6meters solid mirror which was installed in the telescope of Zelenchug Observatory, one of the largest telescope in the world in 70-80ies.

      Since 1964 the factory started to develop the manufacturing of fiber optics for instrument making industry, medical endoscopic devices and electronic optical transformer for night vision devices. The created complex of manufacturing buildings, unique technology, equipment allowed by their capacities to satisfy optical electronic industry of the country by fiber elements.
      On 9 February 1970 the manufacturing association "Rubin" was founded for optical instruments manufacturing along with the parent enterprise "Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory" and other 8 large optical and mechanics factories.

In 1973 the factory began to produce high precision large dimension objectives for photograph systems of observing and detecting of space and air bases. Nowadays the factory is the single manufacturer of such production.       In 1980-1992 technology of high precision finishing of optical surfaces with use of computer methods of material local removing along zones and interferometric control methods. The scientific and technical potential allows the factory in the middle of 90ies to present its production at the market of large dimension astronomic optics. In particular this event allowed LZOS to become a full and recognized participator of the largest astronomic projects in the world early in XXI century.       In 1992-2003 more than 40 new types of optical mechanics devices of both special and civil applications were developed and applied in industry.
