European project "VST Ģ1" is successfully completed
Producing of 2650mm diam. Primary Mirror for "VST" Telescope for European Southern Observatory (ESO) and its transportation to Chili to Paranal mountain were accomplished. Technical specialists from JSC LZOS escorted the Mirror from Santiago airport to Antafagasta town (mountain Paranal) in Chile. As part of mission task members of delegation and ESO representatives agreed upon route, conditions and schedule of the Mirror transportation. Speed operation condition and impact and tilt sensors located on the container were monitored during transportation. At observatory arrival technical specialists of JSC LZOS convey the Mirror to ESO representatives. European partners cry content with the "VST Ģ1" Mirror protection during transportation by LZOS engineers and estimate the work as successful.

The Major Astronomical Mirror of Russia is delivered at LZOS for repolishing
After a great preliminary work in early June, the complex operation of transportation of the Primary Mirror (diam. 6 meters) of Big Asimuth Telescope (BTA) of Special Astrophysics Observatory of Russia Academy of Science (SAO RAS) from Karachaevo-Chirkassia to Lytkarino (Moscow region) was finished. The mirror was produced at LZOS 35 years ago and needs putting in full repair: polishing and finishing of the surface, recovery of the light-reflecting coating. The latest world technologies possessed by LZOS will be used for these purposes.

The visit to "APM - Telescopes" firm
At the end of May the delegation of JSC LZOS consisting of Sergey Kuznetsov Deputy General Manager and Oleg Ponin, Chief of Apo assembling department No. 22 visited the firm "APM - Telescopes" (Germany), which produces the telescopes for consumer and semiprofessional astronomy. Our factory has carried on cooperation with German partners since 1997. We supply them the wide range of high quality apochromate triplet objectives. During 10 years cooperation our factory has supplied more than 1300 objectives for total sum of 2.6 million US dollars. The following questions were treated in the course of the visit: supplying of our product in 2007 and the perspective plan for 2008. They reach the agreement to develop and supply the new objectives taking into consideration the demand trades of optics in world market.

Chinese partners are content with factory production
The partners from People's Republic of China accepted the unique Mirror produced at LZOS for the Chinese State Astronomical Institute. The Mirror will be mounted in newly built telescope (Chang-du, People's Republic of China). Our factory is finishing the polishing of the Mirror diam. 1550mm for this Institute. In the opinion of leading Chinese scientists – astronomers the optical characteristics of the astronomic optics meet the highest requirements of the world astrooptics.

Transferring the Mirror to EOST (USA)
According to the contract with "EOST" company (USA) the Mirror of diam. 1350mm was transferred to American partners in terms determined by LZOS. The mirror will be mounted in the telescope at Hawaiian Islands.

Visit of the Scottish partners to LZOS
The last stage of the contract between JSC LZOS and PRAC Observatory (Great Britain) was completed. The Secondary Mirror M2 under VISTA project produced at our factory was handed over to the customer's forwarder. The partners from Scotland was pleased with the high quality and optical characteristics of M2 Mirror. Contract Performance of VISTA M1 Project under the contract is continuing. According to this contract LZOS is producing the Primary Mirror of diam. 4.1m for the Scottish partners.

Russian-Italian project is completed
The mirror of diam. 2650mm was shipped to the customers – to the Naples Observatory under the Russian-Italian contract. The mirror will be mounted in the "VST" Telescope at Paranal Mountain (Chili).

Commissioning of new equipment
Commissioning of two new Italian glass-sawing machines: "AXIA-38A" and "EURA-35TS" is completed. They were bought by LZOS according to the plan of cold glass finishing section retooling. The new equipment will replace old machines: ŃŠ-1500 and ŃŠ-550.

Holding of annual shareholder meeting
The annual shareholder meeting was held at JSC LZOS on 26 April 2007 according to the Russian Federation legislation. Meeting agenda was as the following:
1. Approval of JSC annual report.
2. Approval of annual accounting statements, among them statement of JSC profit and loss.
3. Approval of JSC allocation profit according to the 2006 year results.
4. Amounts, terms and ways of dividend payments according to the 2006 year results.

Shareholder meeting approved the JSC annual report, annual accounting statements and distribution of JSC profits of the 2006 year; determined the amounts, terms and ways of dividend payments; made modifications and updates of JSC articles and of statement "About Board of Directors of JSC LZOS"; Board of Directors, Audit Commission and auditor of JSC were elected – CJSC "Audit Commission "Auditinform". Potapov Alexander Valerievich was elected at the first proceeding of Board of Directors as chairman of Board of Directors.

Reconstruction of optical-mechanical manufacturing
The line of aluminum anodic oxidation–three leveled technological complex was put into operation according to the complete plan of JSC LZOS development and plan of optical-mechanical manufacturing reconstruction on galvanics section. The new line has the waste neutralization station and improved multistage flushing system with shower installation for reliability improvement and environmental safety, for excluding the effluents. General costs for the new line commissioning are 5 million rubles. Reconstruction of galvancs section is not completed. But the works under the workshop reconstruction are not completed by only that matter. Draft design of two more lines has been worked out: line of magnesium alloys oxidation and line of steel phosphatizing.

Technical modernization at factory
In the end of the last year there was procured and commissioned the new processing center DMU-50 that is made in Germany. This is the first such class machine in LZOS allowing to treat a part at three axes simultaneously and provide positioning in fixes axes at the same time. In the machine working area there is developed a system intended for a length and Radius of the tooling part applying automatic cleaning by compressed air. The system is intended for automotive data input of the tool into a treatment software. The machine kit includes the electronics of a processed part measuring as well as adjustment jigs for calibration. The machine is settled with CNC system of HEIDENHAIN company.

MBS-14 passed final design review
LZOS completed the acceptance testing of a new MBS-14 model. This device that having as basement an optical system of panchratic stereo MBS-12 microscope is featured by more wider range of performance capabilities owing to the illuminating system of transparent light inclusive "dark field" illumination by angular lights. This advantage will apply MBS-14 microscope in laboratory facilities for performance with biological objects and other transparent mediums. Mass production start up is planned on 2008 year.

LZOS summarized its job activities for 2006 year
In the final meeting of LZOS Board of Directors Alexey Patrikeev, general director of factory has summarized the working activities of the factory. He stated that 2006 year was not easy for the factory due to a scope of circumstances however the factory production teams, science production complexes, science – technical centers, workshops, maintenance and supply department – all together are completed the tasks posed in start of 2006 year. As a result all planned technical and economical parameters are reached. All documentation for 2006 is closed and issued. During the meeting General Director stated the tasks to accomplish the presented aims for January and further future, to provide the facilities by all necessary materials and spare parts. The company management stressed the necessity to minimize the expenses during fulfillment of "Complex Plan of LZOS development for 2007 year".

Works under American contract completed
The works concerned with production and treatment of diam. 1350mm astronomical mirror for telescope are finalized under the contract with EOST company. The material melting of the mirror substrate and its further processing and polishing were totally made by LZOS opticians and engineers.

USA Astronomy society is interested in LZOS capabilities
On October 16th LZOS accepted the extended science – engineering staff delegation heading by Gary H.Sąnders, Project manager of Thirty Meter Telescope Project. The American scientists have challenged the ambitious job for constructing of a Largest Land Telescope that is planned to be installed in South America. LZOS received an invitation to take part in preliminary stage tender for supply of material for Primary Mirror of this Ultra Large Telescope.

Factory technical upgrading
In the end of last year there was procured and installed the new treatment machine DMU-50 made in Germany. This is the first machine of such class at LZOS allowing to carry on treatment of an optical part in three axes simultaneously and keep a part positioning in five axes. New Model of Stereoscopic Microscope
LZOS completed the testing and final design review of new microscope MBS-14 model. This device having as a basement the similar optical system of MBS-12 zoom microscope but possesses more wide and extended operating capabilities owing to illumination system of transparent light inclusive of "dirk field" illumination by skewed lights. MBS-14 application is operating with biology objects and other transparent mediums. The new microscope serial production is going to be started in 2008 year.

Company is summarized annular work in 2006 year
At summary meeting of LZOS management, Alexey Patrikeev, General Director stated the results of the factory working in 2006 year. Basically the planned major technical and economical tasks pointed in the beginning of the year had been successfully achieved. As a result the expected parameters of LZOS development were obtained and all financial and accountant documentation was prepared and submitted for review. In course of the meeting Alexey Patrikeev pointed the further tasks for production in the closest months and for providing the factory by all raw materials and resources and keeping the limits of production. The company management emphasized and asserted the challenge to minimize the expenses during implementation of "The Complex Plan of LZOS development in 2007 year".

EOST 1350mm mirror is completed at LZOS Large Optics Department
Another one diameter 1350mm astronomical mirror is figured at LZOS facilities under the cooperation with EOST, USA–Australian Telescope Building Company. The mirror totally was produced at Lytkario Optical Glass Factory starting from Sitall Mirror substrate melting and up to the high-end surface polishing.

New contract with Telescope Technologies Limited
On October 5th–6th, 2006 LZOS, JSC premises were visited by our partners: Telescope Technologies Limited, United Kingdom and Las Cumbres Observatory, Inc. from USA. As a result of two day negotiation LZOS signed the contract for figuring and polishing of three 2m Primary mirrors for New Robotic Telescopes that are planned to be built in close future in different parts of the world. The contract for fabrication of three 2m Primary mirror blanks made of Sitall CO-115M low CTE material was signed earlier and is going to be finalized soon.

LZOS completed figuring and polishing works under the last lot of Mb hexagonal sub-mirrors for Segmented Mb Primary Mirror of Large Sky Area Multi-object Fiber Spectroscopic Telescope, Chinese Academy of Science
During last years the world boosts the tendency for creation of more and more larger astronomical telescopes. The telescopes having Primary mirrors size from 8 to 10m are being commissioned and some are in operation now. But there are existed and on their way the projects for building of 30meter and 50meter Astronomical Optical Telescopes. For such projects usually the optical mirrors are made up of segmented hexagonal sub-mirrors. LZOS specialists have mastered and apply the technology of such sub-mirrors production. It shall be noted that participation in such projects is the prestigious matter for any enterprise. One of the large current projects is the specialized astronomical telescope LAMOST (Large Sky Area Multi-Object Spectroscopic Telescope) tha is being installed in China. Completion of the polishing works under the segmented LAMOST Mb mirror is extremely significant success and considerable contribution to the technology of world optical industry in XXI century encouraging development of the science about Universe for disclosing hidden secrets of environment and objects.

Scientific applicative conference of quality management, ecology and workmen's protection held in Sankt-Peterburg
The forum was arranged by the certification enterprise "Monolit-Sert", JSC with active support of the Russian industrial agency of conventional arms, the federal agency of government's defense order, the central office of the facultative certification system "Military register". The conference visited representatives from more than 80 enterprises from all over Russian Federation and also from Belorussia companies. Sergey Annushkin, Deputy Chief of Quality Control Department of LZOS, JSC made the topic report "Risks management". In accordance with Russian Ministry of Defense direction the companies involved in fulfillment of the government's defense order including LZOS, JSC, is obliged to work under the quality management system corresponding to the state standards requirements. LZOS quality system is constantly being improved and supported so that to face new demands of the market.

Construction of the new large Sitall glass furnace
According business development plans LZOS built and went into operation one more furnace for sitallisation and annealing PC-3. Moreover the large bath furnace No.2 was reconstructed and enlarged in volume. Now LZOS melting facilities provides melting of blanks with larger diameter that demand constantly is being increased.

LZOS participates the international exhibition of military equipment for Land Forces "MBCB-2006" is one of the major events in Russia giving opportunity to present military equipment and arms, and achievements in Russian defense industry. Roland Mandler, Owner and Managing Director of OptoTech Optikmasńhinen GmbH (Germany) famous in precision optical equipment and instrument vendor came to LZOS on May 30th. During meeting parties discussed opportunities of procurement of production lines for manufacture spherical optics with diameter to 100mm and for produce of prism optics with size up to 200mm. LZOS exhibited its night vision devices in International Science and Technical Conference in Moscow
From May 23rd till 26th, 2006 in Moscow there was held ÕIÕ International Science & Technical Conference of photoelectronics and night vision devices arranged by NPO "ORION", Russian State Science Center at support of Ministry of education and science of Russian Federation, Russian Academy of Science, Moscow government, Russian branch of SPIE organization. Participants represents different countries, i.e.: Japan, India, Litva, Byelorussia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Russia. LZOS presented and exhibited its own line of night vision devices and microscopes in this esteemed conference and exhibition.

In May 25th there was held the annual meeting of Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory stockholders where there were announced and reviewed the following matters: approval of the annual report of Joint Stock Company, annual financial report, profits distribution to shareholders, divide of LZOS profit according results of financial year, elections of members of Directorate board, elections of members of Audit committee of Joint Stock Company. Also in the meeting there were discussed the points of amendments to the Articles of Association and to Regulation about Director board, approval of General Auditor of LZOS.

Economic summary of LZOS work
In April at LZOS there was took place the enlarged session of Directorate board of Lytkarino Optical Glass Factory. Boris Savin, chief economist of factory announced the results of the factory works and made summary for the past year. Negotiations with South Korean delegation
On March 28th, 2006 South Korea delegation from GSI corporation and Governmental committee and ROSOBORONEXPORT State Arms Export Company together with the scientists from Russian academia institutes visited LZOS. Visit from Scotland
On March 27th, 2006 the VPO delegation from VISTA Project office came to LZOS with the regular inspection program. Guests from Edinburgh (Scotland) were acknowledged with the Progress status under VISTA M1 Primary mirror and VISTA M2 Secondary mirror that are under polishing works. In course of meeting parties agreed the terms of transportation of the mirrors to Paranal mountain (Chile) where there high precision and unique astronomical mirrors would be installed in the Astronomical Telescope.

LZOS won tender for large state contract
On March 9th 2006 the Russian Federation MOD Agency of R&D base military technologies and special projects carried out the tender for a right to conclude the State contract for supply of hydro meteorological equipment to meteorological divisions and units of Russian Ministry of Defense. In tender there took part more than ten Russian and Foreign vendors of meteorological equipment. LZOS could proposed more favorable contract terms and the best technology solutions for supplying of the end products and as the result was awarded by this tender. LZOS got an order for supply of meteorological equipment to MOD in 2006 for sum more than 6 million dollars.

LZOS supplied 14 hexagonal LAMOST sub-mirrors
In February LZOS polished and supplied the next 14 hexagonal sub-mirrors to Nanjing Institute of Astronomical Optics and technology, Chinese Academy of Science in framework of the ambitious LAMOST Project. There is expected that by the end of 2006 year the Primary segmented mirror of Large Sky Area Multi-object Fiber Spectroscopic (LAMOST) Telescope would be integrated into telescope and there would be a first site. The representatives of LAMOST working group cheered that LZOS significantly mastered the process of polishing and figuring and can do such high precision optics in series although each particular sub-mirror demands the attentive and accurate attitude.

From January 9th till 22nd LZOS engineers and "LINDNER" Germany company specialists finally aligned and commissioned the press line of glass insulators production applied for electricity industry of Russia. In November South African Large Telescope has seen first light. It was designed and commission in international collaboration of scientific and engineering societies from Germany, New Zeeland, Poland, USA, South Africa and Russia. LZOS, JSC has manufactured and delivered to Chinese Academy of Science the second lot of hexagonal sub-mirrors setting up the Primary segmented mirror of Large Sky Area Multi-object Fiber Spectroscopic (LAMOST) Telescope. At acceptance testing all the sub-mirrors successfully passed the certification and proved their compliance to the technical specifications. The representative of Indian government organization conducted in LZOS premises the test measurements and the acceptance of the 11th lot of radiation-resistant optical glass generally 65 glass slabs intended for Radiation shielding viewing windows assembly in various relevant objects. Customer representative has mentioned the high quality workmanship and processing of radiation-resistant glass slabs in LZOS factory and its competitive advantage in world market.

In LZOS, JSC Large Optics division there was the final acceptance procedure of the M3 tertiary mirror with elliptical configuration and axial dimensions of 1520 x 1073 mm under Project "Gran Telescopio CANARIAS", Spain in period June 8 - 9th, 2004. This tertiary astronomical mirror with difficult technical specifications was recognized as the best one within similar items and is to be used in the state-of-the-art Telescope having Primary segmented mirror. more details ...

The last batch of hexagonal blanks made of Astrosital material was shipped away in the end of April for further polishing treatment to KODAK workshop, Rochester under SALT project (South-African Large Telescope). Thus our company has supplied about 100 similar mirror segments for building up the Telescope Primary Large Segmented Mirror having as well hexagonal shape with size 10 - 11 meters. more detail ...
